RED Dot Challenge: Season 1
If we gave you $10,000 to buy art, what would you buy? Why would you buy those particular pieces and not others? How would your choices compare with someone else’s who also has $10,000 to spend?
Follow four players who are all working with a fantasy budget of $10,000 to buy at least seven works of art in 90 days. The works must be on exhibit in the greater Rochester area & the players have to go to the venues in person to make their choices.
We’ll tell you who the players are but you’ll have to figure out what they’re collecting by using your eyes, your feet, your wits & social media. These are just a few of the challenges in Red Dot Challenge, Season 1.
You’ll be introduced to artists and find new venues. You’ll comment on the collections in real time as the players post their choices. Then we’ll meet at a big REVEAL event to find out who was collecting which works and share what we’ve learned. There will be prizes.
#shallweplayagame
Game play begins November 1st. Learn more at reddotchallenge.org.

November 2nd, the band and I will be doing a very special multi-media show at @thelittletheatre as part of their Little Concert Series 🤩🤯😍
I love performing and genuinely find value in playing in any kind of venue. But playing a specially curated show for a listening audience is (for me) the ideal way to really get to the heart of things.
I’ve longed to have one perfect setting to play the music from The Healing, and this is it. The band will be the expanded lineup, featuring our incredible friends, @janinemercandetti and Bill Tiberio
AND delicately threaded into the whole show will be the words of a bunch of amazing folk who’ve graciously contributed their thoughts, feelings and experiences, helping me make an immersive and multi-dimensional experience.
More on all this in the coming weeks, but if there is only one show you can go to, this is it friends.
Admission: $20

OFRENDA ART NIGHT with Free Art Collective
Celebrate Dia de los Muertos with us and honor the lives lost of our queer community members by making a commemorative altar!
We are partnering with @rochesterrainbowunion to host a special art night to honor those we have lost in our community. We will be making “ofrendas” or altars to honor our loved ones, which are dioramas that feature pictures and depictions of the individual, hobbies, favorite activities, pets, favorite foods, and other parts of their life. We ask that you bring a copy of a photo of a loved one to include in your altar, and a shoebox if you have one. We will provide all other supplies you need.
This activity is inspired by the idea of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Traditionally, Dia de los Muertos is used as a chance to remember the positive love, connection, friendship, and lives of those who have passed. We are co-hosting this event with a local community member who is Latine (specifically a Chicano), who hopes to share this cultural element with our LGBTQ+ community, honoring both its traditions and allowing it to be shared with our LGBTQ+ community. These ofrendas would be shared at public LGBTQ+ spaces in the Rochester community, such as bars, restaurants, libraries, and our community center.

In This Moment
Join us on Friday, October 18 at 2:30-4:30pm at the Schultz Community Center at Nazareth University as In This Moment shares community leaders’ stories and illuminates their life’s dedication to uplifting our communities.
Learn more about inequality in health care and mental health care, equal pay and respect for Black leaders, the persistent racial barriers community members face, and the actions changemakers are taking to address these inequities.
In This Moment was born with a mission to unveil, amplify, and preserve the stories of contemporary Black leaders from across the Rochester area by providing educational resources that restore and repair historic narratives that would have been lost to time.
With the support of our community (including support from Nazareth University), ITM has published 22 distinct books featuring Black Rochesterian leaders. These books have been distributed and used by schools, public libraries, individuals, and community organizations throughout the region. 22,000 chapbooks in total have been distributed for free!
As part of our Centennial Celebrations, Nazareth is hosting the co-creators of the In This Moment Series, Amanda Chestnut and Jeanne Strazzabosco, along with two additional Rochester Changemakers — Dr. Linda Clark, President and CEO of Jordan Health, and Ms. Melanie Funchess, CEO/Principal Ubuntu Village Works — for conversations and dialogue about working towards equity and justice, exploring ITM’s themes of revolution, reckoning, and reparation.

Opening Reception: “How can you still love me?”
Experience the evocative photography of Michele Ashlee-Meade in this powerful exhibit. Each portrait reveals the humanity behind faces that many have overlooked, inviting reflection and deeper connection.
Ten years ago, my life changed forever during the longest, darkest night I’ve ever known. As I sat beside my son’s hospital bed after a long ambulance ride, I struggled to find comfort in a stiff chair. My son, battling the relentless grip of addiction, woke with shame in his eyes.
“How can you still love me?” he asked. My love never faltered. I reassured him that no matter the struggle—be it addiction, depression, or hardship—there is no shame in being human. That night, I made a promise: I would use my art to extend compassion to those who feel broken, sharing their stories to remind them they are never alone.
These are the Faces of Healing—the stories of people in search of restoration, resilience, and hope. Through my lens, I capture the beauty of human healing, even in its most vulnerable forms.
